If you’ve found your way to this page, there’s a good chance you’re looking for a sense of calm, steadiness, or relief from stress that feels hard to shake. Many people come to this work feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or unsure why their nervous system seems to stay on high alert. You’re not broken - your system has been trying to protect you.
My role is to help your mind and nervous system learn that it’s safe to stand down.
A Little About Me
My name is Kathy Donaldson, and I’m a Certified MAP Method™ Coach and the founder of Relaxed & Joyful Living in Oak Harbor, Washington.
I came to this work through lived experience. For much of my life, my body has carried the effects of long‑term stress and early experiences that shaped how I responded to the world. I know what it’s like to feel constantly on guard, to scan for danger, and to want relief without having to relive painful memories.
That desire - for a kinder, more respectful path to healing - along with the changes I experienced personally, led me to train in the MAP Method™ and bring this approach into my work with others.
My Approach
My work is trauma‑informed, gentle, and grounded in neuroscience. With MAP, we don’t analyze the past or retell difficult stories. Instead, we work with how the brain stores emotional charge and help it release that charge safely.

Who This Work Is For

I work with women and men whose lives have been shaped by trauma - including experiences of abuse, violence, loss, or chronic stress - and who are ready for a calmer, more stable way of living.
What You Can Expect
Sessions are collaborative, respectful, and paced to your comfort level. You remain aware and in control throughout the process. My role is to guide - not push - and to create a space where your nervous system can experience something different.
Change often feels subtle at first: more space between trigger and reaction, a quieter mind, a deeper sense of ease. Over time, those shifts can add up to meaningful relief.
