A Note from Kathy

You picked this up because something isn't quiet inside you. Maybe it hasn't been quiet for a while.

You're not broken. Your nervous system learned to survive - and it did its job. The problem is it doesn't always know the mission is over.

I've been where you are. I know what it's like to feel like your own body is the enemy - like you're one loud noise, one comment, one bad night away from the edge. I know the exhaustion of white-knuckling your way through civilian life while carrying everything you've never been able to put down.

That's exactly why I became a certified MAP Practitioner. Not because I read about it in a textbook - but because I felt what it did for me, and I knew I had to bring it to the people I care most about: my fellow Veterans.

"You don't have to talk about it.  You don't have to relive it.  You just have to be ready for it to get quieter."

Three myths that keep Veterans from getting help.

MYTH 1

"You have to talk about it to get over it."

Trauma responses live in sensations, images, and impulses - not just words.  MAP is designed to work at that deeper level.  No detailed storytelling is required.
MYTH 2

"Healing means reliving the pain."

In a MAP session, you don't need to describe your trauma, walk through timelines, or emotionally revisit painful experiences.  We work with what is arising in your nervous system right now - not what happened then.
MYTH 3

"Getting help means sitting in a clinical office feeling judged."

Sessions happen from wherever you are - your home, your truck, your back porch.  No clipboards, no labels.  You just show up as you are.

What MAP can help with:

- Hair-trigger anger or irritability

- Hypervigilance - always scanning, never relaxing

- Sleep disruption from anxiety or alertness

- Emotional numbness or disconnection

- Startle responses to sounds or crowds

- Always feeling "on" and unable to switch off

- Relationship strain from reactivity

- Civilian life feeling chaotic or meaningless

- And so much more!

MAP doesn't promise to erase your history.  It helps your nervous system stop treating your history as a current emergency.

What a Session Actually Looks Like

Before
Simple prep

You will watch a short video to prepare your brain.

Connect by video from wherever you are.  No forms about your trauma history.

During
Guided and calm

A brief check-in, then a gentle MAP session.  Eyes open or closed, your choice.

You don't need to explain why something bothers you - just that it does.

After
Real shifts

Many Veterans notice reduced reactivity.

I can provide simple tools to use between sessions.

Progress builds over multiple sessions.

Sessions are approximately 60 minutes.  It can be done from your home or at the wellness center if local.

"MAP has truly changed my life. I feel calmer, more empowered, and much more in control of how I respond to things. Within days, I noticed I was reacting differently to situations that used to trigger me. There is more space, less overthinking, and my inner critic has started to quiet down. Kathy has helped me to heal so much."

- Gabrielle McIntosh, Veteran, USN

You've Carried This Long Enough

You survived things most people can't imagine. Healing doesn't mean forgetting. It means your nervous system finally gets to stand down. You've earned that.
